My previous research background:

My research background involves working with interferometers, such as ALMA, VLBA and VSOP. An interferometer is a technique in which electromagnetic waves are superimposed in order to extract information. The resolution of an interferometer is as good as that of a single telescope whose diameter is as long as the longest baseline of the interferometer. Therfore, a telescope like the VLBA can have a resolution of a single telescope that is as big as the entire United States. This resolution is equivalent to standing in New York and reading a newspaper that is placed in Los Angeles.
